Kathryn Weber Janicki (my mother) was born on June 9, 1916 in Ethan, SD. (Note: On the birth certificate her name was Catherine Margaret Weber, and place of birth was Mitchell, SD). She grew up on a farm outside of Ethan. (see the banner at the top of this page). Her father, Henry Weber had been born August 5, 1873 in Martinsville, WI. He married Margaret Endres on June 20, 1899. (See their wedding picture). Margaret was born 26, 1879, also in Wisconsin
Kathryn was the youngest of 7 children. She attended a Catholic boarding school in Dimock (a town near Ethan) and completed the 8th grade. She met her future husband (my father) Chester Janicki after she moved to Chicago, Ill. They were married on August 1, 1942. They had 2 children, me, and my sister Margaret (Peggy) Janicki La Barbera.
